Sachin praises Jason’s smart move to bring in Roston Chase on the damp pitch: England vs West Indies.

West Indies and England are playing a best of 3 test match series for Wisden Trophy. These Trophy matches are exclusively played between these two teams since 1963. These matches were originally scheduled from May to June’2020, which has been rescheduled on 8th July 2024 till 28th July 2024 due to the Coronavirus worldwide pandemic. West Indies as a whole team should be praised a lot to take this cricketing event very seriously and travel to a place where the Pandemic has already costed many lives till date.

As per the God of Cricket and Master-Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet, Its quite impressive move taken by Jason Holder by bringing in off-spinner Roston to bowl on the bamp pitch on 1st day of 2nd test match between West Indies and England in Manchester. This amazing decision has cost 2 wickets from England.

During the first session, Sachin has noticed a few balls did not reach the keeper even when fast bowlers were pacing the balls,  which indicated a lot of dampness in the pitch, on the same time Jason has taken a quick decision to bring in the off-spinner Roston on such a track where the oddballs may grip and the other may go straight.

In the second test on Thursday, the West Indies has won the toss and taken bowling first. Due to the amazing decision which was taken quickly by Jason while understanding the pitch conditions and changing the bowling order, spinner Roston Chase got a chance to quickly collect 2 wickets of England – Rory Burns (15 runs for 35 balls) & Zak Crawley (on a duck, sent to pavilion), one wicket before the lunch hours in the 14th over and one just on the first ball after lunch respectively. still opener Dom Sibley and skipper Joe Root were able to manage to make a 52-run long partnership while giving England’s team some stability and momentum.

Dom and Root’s partnership was very crucial for England. And eventually, West Indies bowlers have to find a way to break through it until the ball is new, as it will soften on the Old Trafford ground (the ground hardens quickly when it dries out). It all depends on both the teams on how they will handle the new ball. But, Alzarri Joshep was all set to stop the partnership from Joe’s side. Alzarri has ended Joe’s innings as 23.

While Sibley 86 not out and Ben Stokes 59 not out has taken the score for England to 207/3 at the end of First Day. Last year in 2019, the West Indies has claimed the win over Wisden Trophy, and now they have another great chance to win it again and take home the Trophy in this crucial times around the world. Whoever wins, this series will be recorded in the golden letters in the history book of cricket for these bravehearts on the field.
