The big car manufacturers have never turned to electrification as well as quality. If 2019 is the year where they all prepare and present some of their future battery models, in 2024 we will see the arrival of many of them on the streets. The electric car has come to stay and gradually populate our planet to the detriment of thermal engines.
The next two years will be very hectic. What electric cars will arrive during 2024 and 2024? Audi
e-Tron GT (2023). Its definitive version is still a mystery, but the prototype features a sporty-looking saloon coupé design, similar to that of the impending Porsche Taycan. Its 90 kW battery promised 400 kilometers of autonomy and its electric motor, 434 kW (590 hp), enough to reach 100 km / h from standstill in 3.5 seconds and 200 km / h in 12.
e-Tron Sportback (2020). After the arrival of the Audi e-Tron, the Sportback model will wear a more stylized body. It will be based on the same mechanical fundamentals as the standard e-Tron, although with more power: three electric motors that will combine to provide a time of 0 to 100 km / h of 4.5 seconds. You should use a 95 kWh battery capable of granting a range of 500 kilometers.
BMW
i4 (2023). It could be considered a fully electric version of the future BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Preliminary specifications indicate that the i4 will be slightly shorter and wider than the Tesla Model 3. It will have a range of more than 500 kilometers, although later a more economical and smaller version will arrive.
iNext (2023). It will become the technological flagship of the company’s range of models and in approximately two years. BMW has confirmed that the iNext will have a range of over 600 kilometers and that its platform can accommodate both gasoline and diesel mechanics and plug-in hybrids.
iX3 (2020). It will be the first model of the BMW fully electric family and a direct rival of the Audi e-Tron and the Mercedes-Benz EQC. Its design will not be very different from the X3 on which it is based, and in terms of mechanics, the BMW iX3 is expected to use a 75 kWh battery that offers 400 kilometers of autonomy with an electric motor that would deliver the equivalent of 300 hp.
Bytion
K-Byte (2023). An electric sedan of Chinese origin and conception with 400 kilometers of autonomy that will arrive after the landing of the M-Byte, the equivalent version in SUV. The highlight of the Byton K-Byte is found in its automated features, developed with the collaboration of Aurora, a pioneer in autonomous driving technology.
Fiat
500e (2020). Not much is known about the electric version of the urban future of the Italian house. It will join the rest of the 500 range and will have been designed under a specific platform. We do not know the size of the battery, the power of its engine or its autonomy, but its objective will be set in the newly introduced Mini SE and the HondaE.
Hyundai-Kia
Under the luxury division of the group, Genesis, a new electric sedan is expected in 2024. There is no further data in this regard, but the Korean consortium intends to integrate 44 electrified models in its range by 2025, including hybrids, hybrids Pluggable, electric and fuel cell models.
Jaguar-Land Rover
As in the previous case, details are scarce. A new sedan and a completely electric SUV are expected over the next few years. The first will be based on the new Jaguar XJ and the second, on the Range Rover. The latter will take advantage of its redesign in 2024 to integrate the new electrified option.
Mercedes Benz
EQA (2020). After the EQC, a new 100% electric SUV will arrive in the house range. It will be the electric access car and will be based on the new architecture of the next Mercedes-Benz GLA. In principle, it would be equipped with a 60 kWh battery and an electric motor – according to the version – between 150 kW (204 hp) and 300 kW (408 hp), with a range of about 400 kilometers.
Polestar
2 (2020). After the Polestar 1 hybrid coupe, the former Volvo sports subsidiary will pick up next year with the Model 2, a compact saloon with the sights set on the Tesla Model 3. Its 78 kWh battery will provide a range close to 500 kilometers and its electric motor, 300 kW (408 hp) and 660 Nm. It will have four-wheel drive.
Porsche
Taycan (2020). It shares a platform with the Audi e-Tron GT and has the electrical equivalent of about 600 hp, which makes it the second most powerful Porsche after the 911 GT2 RS. It will do 0 to 100 km / h in “less than 3.5 seconds” and will reach “more than 250 km / h” of top speed. It will be compatible with the 800 V sockets and will charge 400 kilometers in 20 minutes.
Taycan Cross Tourism (2023). The same as the previous one, but with a body of shooting brake style in the Panamera Sport Turismo line and a more rustic aesthetic, with plastic fenders in the wheel arches and bumpers and greater ground clearance.
Rivian
R1T (2020). With the idea of being the world’s first electric pick-up, the Rivian R1T promises a lot: 105, 135 and 180 kWh batteries that will provide an autonomy of 370, 480 and 650 kilometers respectively, with a towing capacity of up to five tons and a 0 to 100 km / h in just three seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km / h (with the 135 kWh battery).
Seat
el-Born (2020). Based on the MEB platform of the Volkswagen Group, the future electric Seat will show an output power of 204 hp and a 0 to 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds. The 62 kW battery grants a range of 420 kilometers and can be charged from 0% to 80% in 47 minutes with a 100 kW supercharger.
Tesla
Model Y (2023). The SUV version of Model 3 will have four versions: Standard, Long Range, Dual Motor and Performance. The basic version will provide autonomy of 370 kilometers, an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 193 km / h. The version with greater autonomy will do the same with 540 km, 5.5 seconds and 209 km / h, respectively.
Roadster (2020). Twelve years after the first Tesla Roadster, next year we will see its second generation, although it will be a coupe and not a convertible. It promises a 0 to 100 km / h in 1.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 400 km / h. These figures are obtained from the hand of three electric motors and a 200 kWh battery. Although the power figure has not been reported, the new Roadster can travel 1,000 kilometers between recharges.
Volkswagen
ID.3 (2020). Advance orders are already open and it is being a success, although it has not even been shown yet in its final aspect. Its size will be similar to that of a Golf, although with the optimized interior space. It will have three versions that will offer autonomies that range between 330 and 550 kilometers and 45, 58 and 77 kWh engines. At the end of 2019, it will begin to be manufactured.
Crozz (2020). It will be the first fully electric SUV of the brand. Still, to be confirmed, there is talk of 500 kilometers of autonomy and 83 kWh batteries. According to Volkswagen, it has the amplitude of a Tiguan (515 liters the prototype), the dynamics of a GTI and the power of a Golf R. It is expected that it also integrates four-wheel drive.
Vizzion (2023). We do not know the technical data that will reach the production model, but those of the prototype. The Volkswagen ID Vizzion prides itself on a huge 111 kWh battery that would be enough to achieve a range of 650 kilometers. It will be built taking into account all the advances in autonomous technology.
Volvo
XC40 electric (2020). Volvo announced at the time plans to have its first fully electric vehicle for sale in 2024, while the Polestar 2. That car is the XC40 battery, which will be built based on the same modular platform (CMA) that this and, surely, will also share with him the propulsion system.
