CACHEMIRA (FABRIC) – BASIC INFORMATION IN FEW WORDS.

Cashmere wool fabric is one of the most luxurious and expensive natural cashmere fabric. Due to its practical and aesthetic characteristics, it is also among the most sought after fabrics. Products made from cashmere wool are very delicate, soft and pleasant to the touch and during use. A cashmere sweater heats at least as much as a thick sweater made of sheep’s wool. Cashmere maintains the shape, does not give way and does not wear color, with good care lasts for years.

How is cashmere obtained?

Cashmere wool is obtained by combing the bottom layer of hair of Kashmir goats. This extremely resistant breed lives on the plateaus of China and Mongolia. The inner layer of hair of cashmere goats is soft and dense and perfectly protects against frost that can fall to temperatures up to 40ยบ C below zero. Unprocessed cashmere, which is obtained by combing the lower layer in the spring and summer months, must undergo a long process of artisanal treatment, at the end of which the cashmere thread is obtained and a jacket or fabric is woven shawl called pashmina. By the way, did you know that to make a jersey of normal size you need the wool of between 3 and 5 goats?

How and based on what to choose cashmere clothes?

When selecting a cashmere sweater or other item, in addition to the color and size you should pay attention mainly to the number of layers (also called ply) of cashmere threads, of which the garments are woven. Precisely this parameter determines under what conditions wearing cashmere clothes will feel better. In general, the more layers, the warmer the garment. The most common are two-layer cashmere pullovers, which represent the majority of our offer. These jerseys and vests can be worn throughout the year and you will always feel comfortable. The warmest are ten and twelve layers, designed to be used in the coldest seasons of the year. Even these, of course, you can find in our offer.

What is cashmere used for?

This explains the technical side. But maybe you are already asking yourself another question: What is cashmere actually used for? The wool  almost any lightweight garment. From light summer jackets to scarves. However, since the fabric is known for its thermal insulation, mainly cashmere winter clothing is made. Cashmere is particularly popular for this, since even thin items of clothing have a high level of insulation. Soft sofa blankets, cuddly pillows and other home textiles can also be made from the fluffy material.

The summer suit

When temperatures rise in summer, extremely air-permeable wool materials and open-pore, breathable fabrics made from creped yarns promise pleasant cooling in addition to light cotton or linen.

THE PERFECT FABRICS FOR SUMMER

COTTON

Seersucker is made from cotton, with strips of gathered and non-gathered material creating the wavy effect. But no matter how cotton is processed: the fiber of the Gossypium plant is the summer material par excellence. It absorbs moisture (usually sweat) and is tearproof. UV radiation bleaches cotton, but this does not have to be a disadvantage, but can create a nice vintage effect.

MOHAIR WOOL

In the past, the hair of the Angora goat was mainly used for winter fabrics. Today it can be used to weave very light, air-permeable fabrics that are ideally suited even at higher temperatures. Mohair wool is beautiful because of its matt sheen and the accurate fall, which makes a piece of clothing appear particularly elegant. The only disadvantage is that mohair tears easily and some people find it scratchy on the skin.

SILK

The fiber from the cocoon of the silkworm has been used for clothing for thousands of years. The production of silk suit fabrics is complex, which explains the high price. Due to its lightness, the noble material is particularly suitable for summer clothing. Since silk can also be dyed very well, print patterns look particularly brilliant on it. The big disadvantage: you shouldn’t wash silk as a rule, but let it clean.
