The last time we “got to know an employee” we met Javier Garcia from our
Atlanta Finance team. It was so much fun we thought we would highlight another
one of our Senior Medical Advisors, Zhana.
She joined in 2018 and has made a huge impact on our company. We thought
you’d enjoy her story.
What is your professional background?
I’ve worked in medicine for about 12 years. My degree is in Medicine. During
school I worked as a Physician’s Assistant, and I still did that for a while after
graduation. I’ve also worked on a medical ship – which is how I came to the US
originally. I was working in Atlanta, Georgia– and was able to do a lot of work
with the United Way. I plan to continue my education at the University of Georgia
and study Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I guess you could say I am a bit
of a career student.
What inspired you to go into medicine?
I studied in Spain for several years while also doing mission trips. My former
professor and now mentor, Manuel Garcia, really shaped my viewpoint of how I
could be most impactful to the world through medicine.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a city called Yokohama, which is around 30 kilometers away from
Tokyo, making it very accessible to the capital. It is a beautiful place and I do
wish to go back once I am retired. My family is originally from Russia.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy most teaching people about how to live a healthier lifestyle and then
seeing those changes implemented.
How about the company – what is your favorite part of working here?
The people, definitely. Everyone is very nice and helpful here.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Probably working with the drug companies. They are very driven by money.
Where are you top three favorite places?
Madrid Spain Atlanta GA and of course my home Yokohama
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time bicycling with my boyfriend Nick.
