With the reopening of colleges and universities in India, renowned colleges around the country are opening their admission process for students. Even with the threat of COVID 19, it has always been clear that our future generation’s education cannot suffer. After the vaccination campaign has been initiated in India, the education sector prospects are brighter than before. As colleges gear up to welcome students for a new session, college admissions entrance tests are opening up.
Among the essential national entrance tests, CUCET or the Central Universities Common Entrance Test is one. CUCET 2024 is scheduled for candidates interested in getting into a renowned national university. CUCET 2024 will offer admission into undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes at all the participating universities and colleges.
The advantage of taking a CUCET test is the array of courses you can appear for. The participating universities are spread throughout India’s geography and make education accessible to students around the country. The application process progresses via online mode on the official website of the university.
The eligibility criteria for CUCET
Before signing up for the CUCET, it is vital that the registering candidate checks for the eligibility criteria for application into their favoured stream of subjects. The CUCET is a nationwide entrance test, and many candidates get disqualified only because they fail to fit into the university body’s eligibility criteria. Checking the eligibility criteria thoroughly before applying for it can help you appear for the test successfully. The eligibility criteria for the undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes are different and complex. Read on to find out more about the eligibility criteria for the various courses covered by CUCET.
Undergraduate courses
The eligibility of undergraduate courses is based on the category of reservation a student belongs to. At least 50% marks in class XII make a general student eligible for applying into CUCET. The eligibility marks are 5% less for the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes students. SC/ST students with at least 45% marks in class XII are eligible to apply for CUCET. Generally, the examination authority looks for a primary 10+2 education in mathematics, biology, physics, and chemistry. The criteria are important for students who want to pursue the science stream. The subjects of requirement change with the type of stream selected by the candidate. For more information, an aspiring student should visit the official examination website.
Postgraduate courses
CUCET also offers the chance of enrolment into postgraduate courses. If you are looking for a nationally recognized university to pursue your postgraduate studies, signing up for CUCET is a must. For postgraduate courses, irrespective of the field of study, general students need at least 55 % marks in their undergraduate career. The graduation marks should be certified by a recognized university in India.
For scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, OBC, and PWD candidates, the marks of eligibility are less by 5%. Any ST, SC, OBC, or PWD candidate applying for the CUCET to get into a postgraduate course should have at least 50% marks in his undergraduate career.
Research or PhD programmes
The eligibility criteria for candidates interested in any research programme differ from the requirements set for other programmes. For example, a candidate applying for admission into a research programme is exempt from appearing in the CUCET if he has qualified for the UGC-CSIR JRF.
