Postgraduate courses

Research or PhD programmes
The eligibility criteria for candidates interested in any research programme differ from the requirements set for other programmes. For example, a candidate applying for admission into a research programme is exempt from appearing in the CUCET if he has qualified for the UGC-CSIR JRF.
Any candidate who has qualified for the GATE Examination is also exempt from appearing in the CUCET. The same is true for a candidate who has qualified for any national-level eligibility test for a research fellowship. The CUCET judges his eligibility based on the national exam’s marks.
Apart from this, the CUCET also requires a valid master’s degree on behalf of the candidate. The CUCET declares a general candidate eligible for at least 55% aggregate in his master’s degree. In other universities, the eligibility criteria for general candidates are 50 % marks in their master’s program. Moreover, the eligibility for SC/ST candidates is 45% marks in the master’s program.
