Gas Discharge Tube Arrester Market: Introduction
- Gas discharge tube arresters are tube-like structures that comprises two electrodes, generally made of glass. Gas discharge tube arrester contains a mixture of gases that is maintained at a marginally lower pressure, as compared to the normal atmospheric pressure.
- Increase in voltage to the electrodes triggers the ionization of the gas present within the tube, which initiates an avalanche, making it a highly effective conductor. Subsequently, current from the gas discharge tube is passed to the ground until the voltage becomes normal.
- Gas discharge tube arresters are used to protect delicate equipment from hazardous transient voltages. The gas discharge tube moves the extra current to the ground line by using inert gas as a conductor between two lines.
- Gas discharge tube arresters have two types of designs: parallel circuit and series circuit design. In the parallel circuit design, the extra voltage is deviated from the standard path to another circuit. In the series circuit design, the extra voltage is slowed on its way through the line.
