A 1-year-old infant was shot and killed at New York City cookout

Amidst the recent surge of violence in the Big Apple, there’s another unfortunate incident that has come to light. A fundraiser that was set up for a 1-year-old boy witnessed the death of the child as he was shot and killed at a New York City cookout.
At the sidewalk gathering in Brooklyn, Davell Gardner Jr. was sitting in his stroller when two men who were dressed in black started firing several shots at the group and then began fleeing the scene. Following this incident, Gardner was hurried to the hospital but a short time later was pronounced dead, according to the police.

Samantha Gardner, the infant’s grandmother said that Gardner was the joy of her life and that she received the news of his demise via a call stating that her grandson was shot. Many others too were severely injured in the cookout but are expected to survive, according to the police.

A 36-year-old man was shot in the leg, a 35-year-old man was shot in the groin, and a 27-year-old man was shot in the ankle. Gardner later made a statement that there’s just pure ranting and raving around about black lives matter and then people end up taking a life that was merely just a year and half old. He later added that gun violence should be prohibited as in any case, it isn’t fair for the whole family, neither the mother nor the father, and not even to the grandparents.

This shooting gave way to another violent weekend in New York. However, no arrests have been made as yet and the authorities are going on with their investigation. A similar incident was witnessed a night before wherein again a 1-year-old child was found dead due to his severe injuries during the Brooklyn cookout.
Talking on the same line Police Commissioner Dermot Shea made a statement on Monday on her Twitter account that senseless gun violence is appearing to be the reason behind very real people getting adversely affected and losing their lives.
